PLENARY IV: Special Town Hall - Hip Hop Culture: Exploitation and Empowerment

Friday, July 26
3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Pennsylvania Convention Center
Expo Floor, Hall C

Presented by the National Urban League and the Hip Hop Caucus

Take part in this special Town Hall on Hip Hop culture. While Hip Hop can promote negative images and messages, it also provides a powerful platform for the disenfranchised to be heard, to mobilize, and to create economic opportunity. How can you empower yourself and your community through this thriving culture? Come let your voice be heard and hear from music industry leaders, Hip Hop artists, critics, and entrepreneurs.

We will also show the movie trailer for Fruitvale Station, winner of both the Grand Jury Prize for dramatic feature and the Audience Award for U.S. dramatic film at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. Movie director and producer of Fruitvale Station Ryan Coogler will join us on the panel.
